How to be negative

A friend of mine asked me recently why I write positive blogs all the time, he asked cant you write something about being negative?" I scoffed at the mere idea as, lets call him Moany Tony, can find fault even when hes on holiday... So Ill dedicate this one is to him.

Negativity can be kept to yourself but is easily spread if you follow some of the steps below:

Here are 5 easy ways to spread negativity:

1. Spread a frown on your face and see the effects of the people around you. People will mimic your face and will avoid you.

2. Be rude, insult people and say whatever you think no matter what the consequence is. People will remember what you said and make judgements on your character.

3. Use negative words such as terrible, rubbish, too good to be true, cynical, hate and no. People will associate these words with you.

4. Talk about people behind their backs. People will gage how much they can trust you. People will remember what you said and make judgements on your character.

5. Be ungrateful. Find fault in something that somebody has spent time on. E.g. Someone cooked you a very nice dinner but the cauliflower is overcooked? Point that out to them first and see how it deflates them. Your team spend months on a project and you find the one fault in it rather than saying good job. People love that (not).
People will dislike you and lose respect for you.

You might not have realised how easy it is to spread negativity, in fact you may already be spreading negative energy without being aware; I mean how many of the above have you done already today?

A healthy bit of misery is needed at times. Were not robots who walk around with smiles on our faces 24/7 and having negative emotions and bad days are all part and parcel of us being human. Pretending that youre OK is, above everything else, lying to yourself.

Of course its OK to be in a bad mood and think and feel negatively, your brain needs balance and without the negative, finding the positive would not be a thing. Having down days can make the good days seem like really good days!

The saying goes that misery loves company but when we transfer our misery outwardly its not OK- somebody could be having a really hard time and your misery transference could tip them over the edge. Try not to spread it to everybody else- even if you dont care about protecting others, protect yourself- you might just avoid giving yourself a dose of self-loathing.

Instead think about how easy it could be to spread positivity (basically do the opposite of above):

How to spread positivity:

1. Spread a smile on your face and see the effects of the people around you. People will mimic your face and they will be drawn you.

2. Be friendly, compliment people and keep bad thoughts to yourself. People will remember that thing you said and make judgments on your character.

3. Use positive words such as brilliant, fantastic, wow, absolutely, love, exciting and yes. People will associate these words with you.

4. Dont talk about people behind their backs. People will gage how much they can trust you. People will remember that thing you said and make judgements on your character.

5. Be grateful. Find the positives in something that somebody has spent time on. E.g. Someone cooked you a very nice dinner but the cauliflower is overcooked? Ignore it. Your team spent months on a project, congratulate them by saying good job. People love that.

People will like you and gain respect for you because you have respected others.

Sorry Tone :)
